Now with the Detroit Pistons, former Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams wants to sell his 5,527-square-foot home in Scottsdale, AZ, for $4 million. The luxurious six-bedroom estate is tucked onto a 0.8-acre lot between two cul-de-sacs.

The cushy mansion checks off more than a few must-haves on nearly any buyer’s wish list—there’s a posh main suite with a wet bar and spa bathroom, a home gym, putting green, pool, half-size basketball court, and a one-bedroom casita.

Williams, a former NBA player, coached the Suns to the NBA Finals in 2021, when they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks.

But after failing to propel the Suns past the second round of the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, he was dismissed in May. One month later, the Pistons tapped Williams for their head coach opening, eliminating his need for a home in the desert.

The home was built in 1996 but had several updates during Williams’ four years there. He purchased the place for $2,375,000 in June 2019 and got right to work on renovations.

“He redid the landscaping, put in a putting green, and updated the air conditioning to new ACs throughout the home,” says listing agent Brian Kusmer. “He also replaced all the grass with the artificial turf backyard.”

The work didn’t stop there, though. Kusmer explains the kitchen underwent an exhaustive modern redesign, which included automatic open-and-close cabinets; high-end, stainless-steel appliances; and a butler’s pantry.

The central Scottsdale location allows for easy access to some of the city’s best shops and restaurants—a major perk for the home’s next owner.

“It’s very close to Kierland Commons and the Scottsdale Quarter,” says Kusmer.

It’s also one of the most expensive homes on the market in the 85254 ZIP code. Only three current listings in the area are pricier.

Williams, 51, played for nine seasons in the NBA before moving into a coaching role. Prior to his four-season stint with the Suns, he was the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans for five seasons.
