Before Anna Wintour ran the famous fashion bible that is Vogue magazine, it was helmed by Grace Mirabella.
Mirabella, who died in 2021, was the editor-in-chief just before Wintour and ran it for 17 years. After her tenure at Vogue, she went on to found her namesake magazine, Mirabella, which published for more than a decade.
She lived in this Park Avenue apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and the executors of her estate have decided to list it for $2,195,000.
Much like the editor herself, the property is a classic: seven beautifully proportioned rooms with coveted prewar details. Take a look.

Constructed by Emery Roth, New York City’s preeminent architect of the time, the nearly century-old co-op is a standout. Exceptional craftsmanship abounds in the 2,200-square-foot apartment.
For example, the grand foyer boasts a gorgeous floor, inlaid with a flower medallion design, while the spacious living room features stately columns and original, perfect-condition herringbone flooring. Ten-foot ceilings, a working fireplace, a paneled library and dining room, an eat-in kitchen, and an extra room that could be used as a sleeping space or an office round out the home’s design.
“Grace Mirabella’s apartment has a scale that’s rarely seen today, except in the grandest prewar buildings in New York City,” notes listing agent Martha Kramer, of Brown Harris Stevens. She observes that the sizes of the rooms are extraordinary—particularly the two bedrooms—and that “the closets are so large, they could be used as home offices.”
The bedrooms have walk-in, cedar closets; marble baths; and south-facing windows. As befits a building of this caliber, there’s a 24-hour doorman, concierge, live-in manager, gym, and rooftop deck with amazing city views. Got a puppy? The building also allows pets and is just a couple of avenues from Central Park.

Kramer knew Mirabella personally from her own time in the industry.
“Grace was a wonderful woman, brilliant in the fashion world and beloved by all who knew her,” she shares.
And now, Mirabella’s former apartment presents the opportunity for a buyer to live where an icon flourished.
“The sale of this apartment is important because of the home’s provenance,” Kramer says. “Living in the same space once occupied by a fashion visionary would be hugely impactful.”
This listing is a co-exclusive with Joshua Wesoky of Compass.
