Lochwood

Northeast of White Rock Lake and south of Lake Highlands, Lochwood is sometimes referred to as Dixon Branch after a creek with the same name that runs along the neighborhood’s western edge. It’s a community that’s seemingly ideal for young families, as most of the nearly 5,000 residents are in their mid- to late 30s and early 40s.

What the Locals Say About Lochwood

LOCALS LOVE
Young families flock to this quaint neighborhood for three reasons: Mid-century ranch homes at affordable prices; a 12.3-acre park with a shaded playground, tennis courts, and hikeable wooded trails; and the modern Lochwood Branch Library that has tons to offer tots.

LOCALS COMPLAIN

You’ll find plenty of nearby options for bites and beers, but you’ll have to hop in a car to get there.

SO YOU KNOW

Lochwood knows how to party: The annual Christmas gathering includes a mini train ride (complete with a Santa sighting) and the homeowners on Maplegrove Lane go all out for Halloween, making it a more manageable alternative to the Swiss Avenue trek.
